Purchasing and Setting Up a SSL Certificate From Godaddy



Purchase SSL Certificate From Godaddy

  1. Go to https://www.godaddy.com/web-security/ssl-certificate to purchase your SSL Certificate
    • Decide which certificate is most appropriate for your use
      • If you are purchasing an Agent Domain certificate for a personal website - Select "Protect one website"
      • If you are purchasing a certificate for a brokerage domain that Does not host agent subdomains - select "Protect one website"
      • if you are purchasing a certificate for a brokerage domain that hosts agent subdomains  - select "Protect all subdomains"
    • After Selecting the appropriate Certificate, you will be brought to a page with the following options:
      • Select Your Certificate Type
        • Select Standard SSL
      • Extend and Save
        • Purchasing certificates that span multiple years can save you money and will minimize how often you have to go through the SSL Renewal process. This decision is up to you.
      • The bottom box on that page will usually try to sell you another option service, this is not required for an SSL certificate.
    • Confirm Your order and move through the Checkout process.


Generate New SSL Certificate

  1. After Purchasing your certificate, you will need to activate it for you domain
    • Before performing this step, you must place a request with the Back at You Support Team (support@backatyou.com) to generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) for your domain
      • If you are an agent, you can reach out to an admin from your company and they can contact the Back at You Support Team in order to generate this for you.
      • The only information we need is the name of the domain you are building the SSL Certificate for.
    • Log in to your Go Daddy Account
    • Find your new SSL Certificate
      • Click on your account name in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
      • Click My Products
      • Scroll Down and click on SSL Certificates
      • From here you should see a "New Certificate"
    • Click on the "New Certificate"
  2. On The Certificate Setup Screen
    • Paste the Back at You provided CSR in the Certificate Signing Request text box on this page
    • Click Request Certificate
  3. Wait for domain Verification
    • Godaddy will tell you if any additional verification is required.
  4. Download Certificate, 
    • On Your SSL Certificate Home Page, Click Download
    • Click SSL Certificates
    • Select "Other" as the server type
    • Click Download Zip file
    • contact the Back at You Support Team to have us install the new certificate on our servers.
